Seed treatment using plant growth promoting rhizobacteria and its effect on growth and yield of tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) plants

This study aims to analyze the effect of seed treatment using Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) on seed viability and vigor, growth and yield of tomato plants in the field. The experimental design used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) 2 x 9 factorial pattern with 3 replications. Factor of tomato variety (V) consists of 2 levels: V1 (Karina Variety) and V2 (Grand Sakina F1 Variety). The second factor is rhizobacteria isolate (R), consisting of 8 levels: R0 (Control), R1 (Azotobacter sp), R2 (Necercia sp), R3 (Pseudomonas cepacia), R4 (Bacillus megaterium), R5 (Pseudomonas dimuta), R6 (Flavobacterium sp), R7 (Bacillus polymixa) and R8 (Bacillus stearothermophillus). Data were analyzed using ANOVA, and continued with a different test between treatments with the DMRT test (Duncan Multiple Range Test) at a significant level of α = 0.05.  The results of the study indicated that Karina variety shows better plant height value in Flavobacterium sp. and better fruit weight per plant in Bacillus stearothermophillus. While the Grand Karina F1 variety, showed a wider stem diameter value in Pseuodomonas cepacia and Flavobacterium sp., more leaves in Bacillus megaterium and more fruit consumption in Necercia sp.
